Wolverhampton Tips: Misty Secret

Moved to a yard that excel on the all-weather and she might have some hidden improvement.

Slim pickings around the country today but Misty Secret might run a bit better than her price in the 3.10 Wolverhampton.

She is having her first start for Tom Dascombe, a trainer who excels on the all-weather. Last season he enjoyed a 28% strike rate at Wolverhampton and was 3/3 with his 2-year-old runners at the track.

Misty Secret hasn’t got much form to go on but she’s had excuses. The ground was very testing at Yarmouth on her last start and before that she was badly drawn and suffered a slow start at Kempton. The key to unlocking her form was her run at Haydock in September. There was a big draw bias that day, with the first four all racing near the stand’s rail. They finished in the order they were drawn: 10-9-8-7.

The horses drawn 1-6 were at a big disadvantage, evidenced by the subsequent improvements in their Racing Post Ratings.

On average each horse improved 17lbs on their next start. If you take out Misty Secret’s next run (poorly drawn, slow start) then the average improvement is 25lbs!

Misty Secret hasn’t been able to showcase this improvement yet but if the track and trip suit her, this could be the day. At 25/1 (Bet365) she is overpriced.
