Wolverhampton Tips: Ingleby Star

Didn’t show much after returning from a 116-day absence but Ian McInnes’s horses often need the run.

Racing off a mark of 60, the handicapper has given Ingleby Star a chance in the 2.30 Wolverhampton. He’s better on turf but handles polytrack and should run a good deal better than last time.

Ingleby Star was beaten by 8.25 lengths on his last start and the bookmakers are taking the form at face value by pricing him up at 33/1. That is a dangerous move. It was his first race in almost 4 months, and Ian McInnes is just 1/139 with horses returning from a 100+ day break.

I would expect Ingleby Star to improve considerably on that last run because at his best he is a fair sprinter. The 8-year-old is a frequent winner at this level, having scored 6 times from 37 starts in class 5 company. At 33/1 (William Hill) he is a big price because his last run wasn’t a true reflection of his ability.
