Wolverhampton Tips: Fred Willetts

Having his first start for a new trainer and Graham Gibbons’ only ride of the day.

The 4.00 Wolverhampton looks like a strong race for the grade with recent course and distance winners Cockney Dancer and Restaurateur dominating the front of the betting. However, there is more strength in depth than the bookmakers would have you believe, with Fred Willetts massively overpriced at 20/1 (Bet365).

Like many sprinters, he lost his way as a 3-year-old last year. Opportunities amongst his age group were few and far between although he did manage to win a class 2 handicap over a mile.

His form this season has been inconsistent, but he’s predominantly raced in a higher grade. Today, he has his first start for Mark Brisbourne and it’s hoped his new trainer has found the key to him. Graham Gibbons travels to Wolverhampton for just one ride, perhaps a clue that connections fancy him more than the bookies. At 20/1 (Bet365) he’s worth a chance.
