Wolverhampton Racing Tips: Earlsmedic
Working his way back into form and looks well handicapped. Returns to his optimal trip after a close second over 5f.
The 5.45 at Wolverhampton is a good little race but I can’t move away from Earlsmedic. He is starting to run well again and looks generously handicapped on his best form.
Five furlongs around Kempton was always going to be too sharp for him and that was the case in his last run. Slowly away, he was trailing the field by several lengths around the bend as he couldn’t go the early pace. However, as they straightened for home he came flying down the outside to finish second beaten by 0.75 lengths. Today he is stepped up to six furlongs, the distance of all his wins.
Things went wrong for Earlsmedic at the start of 2011, running some shocking races when something was amiss. He plummeted down the handicap as a result and now races 12lbs below his highest winning mark. Encouragingly, he has been working back towards his best form recently with finishes of 3132 since late July.
He is in good condition, has a fair draw and is well handicapped – at 9/2 Paddy Power he is the horse to beat.
