Wolverhampton Tips: Cri Na Mara

Starting to put together a good run of form and has won over course and distance.

It is going to be hard for the paper favourite, Silver Linnet, to dominate the 2.40 Wolverhampton. She has a wide draw, a weight penalty and the danger of bouncing.

The ‘bounce’ phenomenon is a theory copied from American racing, where a horse regresses on their second run after a long break. Silver Linnet looked to be running on empty at Kempton, the final 50 yards seemed to last forever. That run might take a while to get over and she looks opposable back on the track just five days later.

Cri Na Mara is only having her ninth start and looks a horse going the right way. She won her maiden over course and distance and followed it up with a solid fourth place. Six furlongs at Dundalk stretched her stamina last time, but in a better class race, she showed up well finishing fifth.

Having strung together a good little run of form, she is worth an interest at 5/1 (Ladbrokes) especially with the eye-catching booking of Kieran Fallon.
