Wolverhampton Tips: Climaxfortackle

At his best quickening off a slow pace, a scenario that could unfold this evening in a small field with only one front-runner.

Climaxfortackle is a confusing horse that I’ve only just got to grips with. His is often a slow starter who makes eye-catching headway through the field. His style of running suggests he needs a strong pace for his stamina to come into play but the opposite is true.

When he has run well he has still clocked slow speed figures and it’s only since I’ve started looking at sectional timings that the penny has dropped.

Climaxfortackle’s strength is that he can quicken off a slow pace. His best performances have all come in races where they went a slow early gallop. That means he can stay in touch with the pack if he makes a slow start and then deliver his turn of foot in a sprint to the line.

This style of running limits his chances. In strongly run races, or when upped in grade (class 4 or higher) he will get detached and have too much ground to make up but in the 7.10 Wolverhampton, he could have the race run to suit.

Threave is the only front-runner and because of her stamina worries (all wins at 5f) Jim Crowley might want to set a steady early gallop. If the contest develops into a 2f sprint then it plays into the hands of Climaxfortackle.
