Wolverhampton Tips: Clear Praise
Finished second in an almost identical race on Saturday and drawn much better this time.
There is an early market move in the 3.00 Wolverhampton for R Woody but I think punters are misguided if they are betting him on his last run.
He was a big eye-catcher as he flew from the back of the field to grab second place at Leicester but I think he was flattered. The strong early gallop in soft ground left several horses very tired, whereas R Woody’s proven stamina over 6f, plus his conservative handling during the race, meant he had more petrol left in the tank for the finish.
A much stronger bet is Clear Praise who went close in a similar race on Saturday. A better horse on the all-weather, he got to within a length of the useful Doctor Parkes despite being forced to race wide for almost the entire race. Most of his winning form is at 6f, but he proved he could be competitive in a strongly run 5f race and that’s what he should get today.
With the favourite over-bet, the value is on Clear Praise at 7/2 with William Hill.
