Wolverhampton Racing Tip: Spirit Of Grace

This filly showed a fair level of ability in the summer and hails from a stable in form.

Unfortunately there isn’t a huge amount of choice today with only two meetings scheduled. However there is a tiny slither of value in the 4.25 at Wolverhampton.

Both Chester Deelyte and Perfect Act are very short in the betting. The former is running well but always comes unstuck in a better grade, whereas the latter seems totally out of form, having been defeated in claimers and sellers recently.

Ignore the front of the market and instead go for Spirit Of Grace at 20/1 with Paddy Power. This is her first run in 173 days, which suggests something was amiss on her last appearance when well beaten. Before that she had shown a reasonable level of form, winning a class five handicap and generally contesting a better class of race than her rivals.

She is dropping back in trip for the first time but has shown bright early pace in her races over 7f; enough to suggest she can cope with a move to sprinting. Trainer Alan McCabe is also enjoying an excellent winter which is not reflected in the price.

Back her each way at 1/5 odds for a top three finish at 20/1 (Paddy Power). Beware, if there is one more non-runner the field is reduced to seven and place terms would only pay the top two finishers. If that happens then revert to a win only bet.
