The Return Of Workforce

Workforce

Last year’s Derby winner makes his reappearance on Thursday. He is evens to start with a win and the bookmakers have already mapped out his season.

It is a rare sight nowadays to see a Derby and Arc winner stay in training at four-years-old, but on Thursday evening we will be treated to the return of Workforce. The Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown is the venue and Sir Michael Stoute’s colt is evens to make a winning start. The race is seen as a prep for the Coral Eclipse run over course and distance in July, for which he is 6/1.

Another potential target is the King George VI at Ascot and the mouth watering prospect of a match up with St Nicholas Abbey. Workforce is 11/4 to win the race with St Nicholas Abbey 8/1 to continue his revival.

The climax of the season could see Workforce try to retain his Arc crown in October. A 9/2 favourite for the race it will be interesting to see which of the current classic generation pick up the a challenge. Current Derby favourite Carlton House is 12/1 to win in Paris.
