Tanawar Better Over 7f
Strongly run 8.5f seemed to stretch his stamina and a drop in trip is in his favour.
Ten days ago we looked to be onto a good thing with Tanawar. He was backed into 4/1 from 13/2 at Nottingham and a big run was expected. However, after travelling strongly his run flatted out in the final furlong and he could only finish fifth.
I suspect a strongly run 8.5f is beyond the limits of his stamina and therefore a drop to 7f in the 4.40 Ayr makes sense.
He showed good speed to finish a luckless sixth on his penultimate start at Thirsk, which was at 7f and a return to that form gives him an excellent chance at 9/2 (William Hill).
