Hamilton Tips: Specialv

Brian Ellison runs a shrewd operation and in Specialv he has a potentially well-handicapped sprinter on his hands. The 3-year-old has spent most of her career racing at a mile but the drop back to sprinting could be the making of her.

Last time out she showed a bright turn of foot to come from the rear and win at Ayr. Her closing split of 35.54s was the quickest in the race by 0.36s and the fastest on the card in absolute terms.

The handicapper has bumped her up 5lbs but that is negated by 7lbs claimer Ben Robinson taking the ride. His inexperience is a slight worry but Robinson has ridden Specialv before and is 5-32 for Brain Ellison this season.

Now that connections have found her forte, Specialv is the type of horse who could rack up a sequence of wins.
