Ayr Tips: Dragon King

Ayr Tips: Dragon King

Two of his career best performances have come at the track and potentially well berthed in stall 21.

Dragon King has gone off the boil lately but that means his handicap mark has eased and he qualifies for a class 4 handicap for the first time this season. That alone might not spark a revival but a return to Ayr could.

Dragon King’s best performance of 2016 came at the track in June, he lay up with a strong pace and was only just caught on the line. In defeat he earned an adjusted speed rating of 95 and comfortably had the pace for the minimum trip.

According to the Racing Post Ratings, two of Dragon King’s best three performances have come at Ayr and this time last year he was sent off favourite for the Bronze Cup, eventually finishing fifth.

So early in the Western Meeting we are still guessing as to any potential draw bias but being drawn on the wings should be advantage and from stall 21/24, Paul Mulrennan will have the nearside rail for company.

First time blinkers may elicit further improvement and Dragon King shouldn’t be dismissed lightly.
