Ripon Tips: Cersei
Finished on the heels of twoexciting prospects at Windsor backing up a good but luckless run at Doncaster.
Cersei has finished 1233 this season but there’s more to come for David Simcock’s filly looking at her performances.
Last time out she finished a good third in an above average race for the grade. The first three pulled 5 lengths clear of the fourth horse and the time was quick. The winner Gravity Flow and runner-up Battlement are both progressive types and Cersei lost nothing in defeat.
Cersei has now earned consecutive speed ratings in the high 70s and was particularly unlucky when third at Doncaster. Stuck in rear behind a pedestrian gallop (105.5% finishing speed) she couldn’t find the gaps as nothing in front was tiring.
Her sectionals were very similar to Laughton who subsequently won a class 3 handicap at Goodwood.
All the evidence points to Cersei being better than a 77 rated a horse and she can prove that by winning the 7.15 Ripon.
