Racing Post Chase Betting Preview

Fistral Beach and Nacarat are amongst the big names racing at Kempton. Read our betting preview of the weekend's big race: The Racing Post Chase.

The Racing Post Chase at Kempton is the big race on Saturday with 17 runners going for the £57,000 first prize at 15.00.

Leading the betting is Fistral Beach trained by Paul Nicholls. Favourite for the race last year he unseated Ruby Walsh at the second fence. A horse with plenty of hype but fewer victories, he has struggled to 3 wins but 7 seconds. He comes into the race on the back of his best performance, winning a 0-145 Wincanton handicap.

Popular grey Nacarat tops the handicap and is second favourite in the betting at 6/1. A resolute front runner, he has saved his best for Kempton with his record reading 4241. The form is top class, with the two fourth places coming in the King George and the other runs in this race.

Last year’s winner Razor Royale is available at 14/1 but he comes into the race with no form having been beaten out of sight on both his runs this year.

Quinz and Mostly Bob represent the novice chasing division in the race. Quinz has got his act together over fences winning two of his three starts, the one defeat behind the smart Time For Rupert at Cheltenham. Mostly Bob is even more unexposed winning easily on his third start over the big sticks at Doncaster. With very few miles on the clock he could be anything and might make the handicapper look silly.

On the come back trail are Tatenen and Crescent Island, only 7 and 8 years old, they still have plenty of time to build on the promise early in their careers. Both arrive on the back of wins.

With 17 runners declared, bookmakers are going four places, ¼ odds. Be sure to check out the best odds on all the runners below.
