Newmarket Tips: Orbit The Moon

Overcame a poor draw to win last time out and actually drops down in grade today.

Orbit The Moon looks very generously treated in the 5.15 Newmarket. He was only raised 2lbs for his last win and actually drops down a level from a class 3 to a class 4 handicap. In effect, he gets to contest a race that is actually easier than the one he won 26 days ago!

The good news doesn’t stop there. His win at Pontefract deserves upgrading as he was forced to race wide from his high draw. The next best finishers of those drawn in double figures were Johannes (drawn 13), who trailed in 2.75 behind lengths in sixth and Trade Secret (drawn 12), who was beaten 5.25 lengths in tenth. Both won their subsequent starts improving their Racing Post Ratings by 13lbs and 19lbs respectively.

On that basis, Orbit The Moon overcame a 16lbs draw bias to win his last race. If that is true, we can upgrade his last RPR to 102. That is comfortably better than anything this field is capable of, making him excellent value at 5/1 (Ladbrokes).
