Newmarket Tips: Macdillon
Runner-up on his last two starts but a stronger pace should play to his strengths.
The 4.55 Newmarket should be run at a decent gallop with several front-runners in the field. This could set up the race for Macdillon whose strong suit is his extra stamina compared to his rivals.
Both his wins have come at Sandown, on the uphill 5f course. Although the Newmarket July course is a slightly easier track, the strong pace should mimic the effect of a stiff finish.
Macdillon has finished second on his last two starts which suggests he is on form. He got caught out by the pace-setters on both occasions but today’s race should play to his strengths.
