Newmarket Tips: Giofra
Capable of picking up a Group 1 judged on her 3-length demolition of her male counterparts two starts ago.
The most exciting horses in the 3.00 Newmarket are French, with Golden Lilac a worthy favourite considering she has three Group 1 victories to her name. However, at the prices I think Giofra is the value.
She found 11f in heavy ground too much of a test in the Prix Ganay but even on better ground she wouldn’t have beaten the superb Cirrus Des Aigles. A better indication of her talents was her fine 3-length win in the Prix d’Harcourt.

Alain De Royer-Dupre’s filly showed a tremendous turn of foot to motor away from her rivals and win comfortably in the end. She clearly has the pace for a mile, but she also has a slight stamina edge over Golden Lilac and the uphill finish at Newmarket will play more to her strengths.
The French should dominate the race, but based on prices, Giofra at 8/1 (Paddy Power) is the more attractive bet.
