Newmarket Tips: Burning Blaze
Gone close without winning and as a result looks well handicapped. Will enjoy the strong pace.
A typically big field lines up for the 3.15 Newmarket and I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of these having been hiding their talents from the handicapper.
Seven of the last ten winners of the race have carried 8-7 or less and that is where to focus our attentions. With relatively few opportunities for 3-year-old sprinters there are often very good horses lurking at the bottom of the handicap just waiting for their chance to shine.
Burning Blaze has hinted at ability without winning and the cards could fall right for him today.
On his seasonal debut at Newmarket he was given too much to do when held-up at the back of the pack and the step up to 7f at Sandown looked a furlong too far as he didn’t quite get home when looking the winner.
To be at his best I think he needs a strongly run 6f on fast ground, which is exactly what he should get today.
