Newmarket: Hot Snap
Overcame greenness to win the Nell Gwyn in impressive fashion and in a fast time.
The 1000 Guineas (3.50 Newmarket) has thrown up some peculiar results over the years but it will take a very good horse to beat Hot Snap.
She was an impressive winner of the Nell Gwyn on her last start and there is probably more to come. Scrubbed along in the rear she seemed to be going nowhere but 2f from home she took off. She flew past Sky Lantern as if she was standing still, and in a blink of an eye, the race was put to bed. It was the sort of performance that only a smart horse could deliver.
The worry for her rivals is that she was still a bit green in the Nell Gwyn; it was only her second career start and will learn from the experience. With the step up in trip also in her favour she deserves to be favourite.
