Newbury Tip: Whaileyy

Progressive this winter, clocking a good speed figure when beaten a short-head on his last start. Finished well clear of the rest.

One of the winter’s most exciting all-weather sprinters makes his turf reappearance in the 2.30 Newbury.

Whaileyy routed a class 4 handicap at Kempton in January before beaten a short-head by Alben Star in a class 2 race at Wolverhampton. Starting wide from stall 12, he actually ran a better race than the winner did.

The front two pulled clear of some good horses, all rated in the 90s, suggesting they are both a little bit better than the grade.

Drawn well in the middle of the pack, Whaileyy could progress into Group company so now is the time to back him at 6/1 (Betfred), before he shows his hand.
