Kempton Tips: Valdaw

Put in a series of good performances at Chepstow during the summer and has the best finishing kick in the field.

The 5.45 Kempton is basement level competition and we are looking for any glimmer of hope with these lowly rated sprinters.

The majority of the field have disappointed in one way or another but with Valdaw having his first start at 6f, there is at least cause for optimism. During the summer he strung a good set of performances together at Chepstow, finishing second twice and running an eye-catching eighth over 5f.

I was particular taken by his 5f run because after being badly outpaced he finished strongly, making up several lengths on the field. Today he races over an extra furlong and in a much weaker race; he was racing in a 0-70 contest compared to a 0-55 today.

With no speedballs in the line-up, Adam Kirby should be able to keep tabs on the front-runners and deploy his strong finishing kick to win at 7/1 (BetVictor).
