Kempton Tips: Take The Lead
An easier lead means she can confirm the placings with Kylladdie from a fortnight ago.
The 6.40 Kempton looks a two a horse between Take The Lead and Kylladdie. Both ran a solid race behind Pettochside a fortnight ago and the overall time and sectionals indicate the form will hold up.
A neck separated them last time they met and I expect Richard Hannon’s horse to confirm the placing at 4/1 (Coral).
Take The Lead was forced to work harder than Kylladdie during the race because Only Ten Per Cent harried her for the lead. This ensured they went a solid gallop but there is less pace pressure in the field this evening. Putin is a possible front-runner but he has been ridden more conservatively recently.
One other noticeable factor from 14 days ago was that Kylladdie was off the bridle much earlier than Take The Lead, suggesting he might lack the immediate change in gear of his rival. If Richard Hughes also has the luxury of a soft lead then it is likely the placings remain unaltered.
