Kempton Tips: Santefisio

An exciting new recruit for a trainer in wonderful form.

After giving his horses a rest in December, Keith Dalgleish is continuing to make his presence felt in 2012. One of the up and coming stars of flat racing, Dalgleish can do no wrong, sending out 5 winners in January with a 21% strike rate.

It is a long journey from South Lanarkshire to Kempton Park, so I’d be surprised if Santefisio doesn’t arrive with an excellent chance in the 7.20. Having his first run for the yard, he was a useful horse with Peter Makin and he could have improved for the change in scenery.

Equally effective over seven furlongs or a mile, it is crucial he has a strong pace to track. With the blinkers back on, Last Sovereign should adopt his usual front-running tactic, setting up the race. Drawn in stall four Santefisio has ideal track position and with course winning form I’d be surprised if he didn’t go close.
