Kempton Tips: Rocket Power
Clocked the fifth fastest closing sectional (on debut) of the last 6520 runners at Wolverhampton and a useful prospect.
I was so taken by Rocket Power’s debut that I’ve backed him on his last two starts and I still remain suitably impressed.
On the 22 January, Rocket Power finished third at Wolverhampton but in a slowly run race (116% finishing speed) he covered the final 2f in a 22.22s the fifth fastest closing sectional at the track from the last 6520 runners.
The pedestrian early gallop was a factor in creating that fast final sectional but it was still an eye-catching performance. He backed up that run with a facile victory at Southwell and then was not beaten far in a useful class 4 handicap, despite being the least experienced horse in the line-up.
It has been 82 days since we last saw Rocket Power but he is open to plenty of improvement and Luke Morris is an encouraging jockey booking.
We saw a glimpse of his potential on debut and everything he’s done since suggests a useful horse in the making. If he can settle better, and will with experience, then he should run well at 10/1 (William Hill).
