Kempton Tips: Riggins

Has won three handicaps at a mile on the AW and feasibly treated on his best form.

If Riggins (2.05 Kempton) were any good on turf he would have been a cracking bet for the valuable Lincoln handicap last weekend. This winter he finished ahead of the Lincoln runner-up Mull Of Killough and three lengths behind the fourth placed horse, Edinburgh Knight.

Due to injuries early in his career, Riggins is much better suited to the all-weather these days. Rated 98, his opportunities are slightly limited but whenever connections find him a race, he performs with credit. His record at a mile or less on UK all-weather tracks is: 11115 - his sole defeat coming in a listed contest.

Berthed in stall 13, the draw hasn’t been particularly kind but that is factored into the price. He won a similar contest back in November off a mark only 4lbs higher and is worth a small wager at 9/1 with Boylesports.
