Kempton Tips: Lujeanie

Stall 1 is the ideal starting position in a potentially slowly run race.

With We Have A Dream the only confirmed front-runner, the 7.05 Kempton could be run at a steady pace. Normally I’d happily play the only pace horse in the field, but William Muir’s 7-year-old has been on the downgrade this season. I think a horse will win from off the pace, it just depends which jockey times their run to perfection.

Lujeanie has the best draw in stall 1 and therefore shouldn’t have to forfeit any ground chasing the leader. He looked back to form on his last start, finishing fifth at Lingfield and was the only horse to make any significant ground from behind after the leaders went a steady gallop.

If Jim Crowley is able to deploy Lujeanie’s finishing burst from a more prominent racing position I doubt anyone will be able to reel him in. He is the value bet at 9/1 (William Hill).
