Kempton Tips: Kakatosi

Once rated in the 100s, there is headroom in his handicap mark. Trainer has an excellent record with new purchases.

Trainer Mike Murphy has proved adept at handling other people’s cast-offs and he’s acquired another good horse in Kakatosi who runs in the 7.05 Kempton.

Once rated in the 100s, he had lost his way for Andrew Balding but bounced back to form by winning for his new trainer at Lingfield in December. He had no problem coping with the drop to 6f and followed up with another good run at Wolverhampton. Although he finished eighth he was only beaten by 2.75 lengths and had the worst draw to contend with.

Well drawn in stall 1, he should be able to stalk the pacesetters before delivering a late charge for the line. Horses switched to Mike Murphy have a 15.5% strike rate within their first three starts for their new trainer. Having his third start for the yard today, I expect there is more to come from him at 4/1 (Bet365).
