Generous price for this last time out winner, who was a useful juvenile not that long ago.
Considering Belle Bayardo was a winner last time out, he is being offered at generous odds to win the 5.20 Kempton. This afternoon’s race represents a step up in class but he was victorious at this level on turf during the summer and shouldn’t be outclassed. If anything Belle Bayardo is benefiting from a drop in class having been rated in the high-90s as a juvenile.
At his most effective on firm turf or polytrack, we didn’t see the best of Belle Bayardo during the autumn as he was forced to race on soft ground. Despite conditions not being in his favour he ran some good races, including finishing 1.75 lengths behind the progressive Links Drive Lady in a class 4 handicap at Windsor. At 12/1 (Bet365) he looks overpriced considering his ability.
