Kempton Racing Tips: Belinsky

Ran well in a much higher grade last year and a change of stable could spark a revival.

The 6.15 at Kempton is not the greatest race in the world but there is a lot to like about Belinsky.

He is having his first start for Julie Camacho having moved from Mark Campion at the end of 2011. The change of scenery might just bring the necessary improvement to win a moderate race.

His last couple of runs can easily be ignored; the jockey lost his irons at Kempton and the horse did not handle Southwell’s fibresand surface. Go back further and there is a highly creditable second over course and distance. Belinsky and Mambo Spirit duelled up the home straight pulling three lengths clear of the horse in third. Belinsky couldn’t quite hold on for the win having forced the pace, but he proved what good form he is in.

On at least three occasions in 2011 the horse ran speed figures two lengths better than anything else in this field, he was even competing in class four handicaps in mid-summer. Dropped down to a class six level and with the plum draw of stall one, he could prove too good for the grade at 11/1 with Betfred.
