Kempton Tips: Bajan Bear The Danger

Undone by the steady gallop in recent races but has plenty of ability and looks ready to strike.

The market for the 6.20 Kempton is built around one horse – Dutiful Son.

He is lightly raced, hails from a good yard and has Ryan Moore aboard but he’s only won a moderate maiden and has a tricky draw to contend with. Considering his price, he is a horse I want to take on.

In opposition, Bajan Bear looks the biggest danger. He’s got a poor strike rate for a horse of his ability but he’s run with credit, particularly over 6f.

Michael Blanshard’s gelding hasn’t lost by more than 2.75 lengths on his last five starts but is often undone by the lack of pace in his races.

No one finished stronger than Bajan Bear two starts back at Kempton but he got caught too far back in a moderately run contest and could only run on for third place.

There is a danger of history repeating itself with no obvious front-runner in the field but at 7/1 (Betfred), Bajan Bear is worth the risk.
