Kempton Horse Racing Tips: Yungaburra

Trainer knows this horse well and he has hinted at a revival in his last two spins.

The 5.40 at Kempton is very moderate fare and if Yungaburra can regain any of his old sparkle then he should win this easily. Rated in the mid-80s three years ago, he would have mopped up this race. Clearly, he isn’t the same horse any more but at seven-years-old there is still time to resurrect his career.

After doing absolutely nothing this season, there are signs he is regaining his form. At his peak he was trained by Tim Pitt, and it is surely no coincidence that he has found his way to David Griffiths, formerly employed by Pitt. Already familiar with the horse, if there is anyone who can unlock his old form then it is he.

Recent signs are encouraging. Yungaburra has finished 54 in his last two outings, both times travelling like a winner before running out of steam in the last furlong. That is excusable as he was running over seven furlongs, when sprinting is his forte. Dropped back in trip and favourably drawn, if he doesn’t run well today then he is probably one to forget forever. Back him at 8/1 with Betfred.
