A three mile chase restricted to novices it can throw up future champions, with Long Run taking the race in 2009.  Grands Crus is the 11/8 (Bet365) favourite after enjoying an unbeaten start to his chasing career. Wins at Cheltenham and Newbury prove that his jumping is up to scratch and it will take a very good horse to beat him.

The betting suggests his closest challenger is Bobs Worth at 3/1 (Stan James).  He gamely held off Cue Card by a short head on his chasing debut and the step up in trip should be no problem having won over the distance as a hurdler. He has 6 wins from 7 races in his career, his only defeat coming in a National Hunt flat race.

Silviniaco Conti (7/2 with Bet365) is in the mix after routing his rivals by 25 lengths at Wincanton in November and Mr Moonshine (25/1 with Paddy Power) shouldn’t be discounted after finishing third in the Peterborough Chase against more experienced rivals.

Binocular is 6/4 (Bet365) to retain his title but can be a frustrating horse to follow having lost his last three races at short prices. Overturn out speeded him in the Fighting Fifth and on a pace favouring track he is 7/2 (Bet365) to record his fourth win of the season.

Rock On Ruby had his Newbury form franked by Raya Star wining the Ladbroke last weekend and at 2/1 (Bet365) he still looks very much on the upgrade. The 16/1 (Betfred) for the Champion Hurdle looks a fair bet especially as Cheltenham is a track that suits him more than Kempton.
