Hamilton Tips: Joyful Star
Different horse since wind-op and undone by steady pace last time.
Joyful Star is much improved since a wind operation during the winter and is still weighted to win.
The 6-year-old is at his best closing off a strong pace, exactly what he didn’t get last time at Ayr. The finishing speed was 105.5% of the average race speed, much quicker than par for the track.
It meant Joyful Star was trying to make up ground into an accelerating pace and despite clocking the fastest closing sectional, he couldn’t make an impact on the leaders.
Down in grade and on softer ground he should be finishing better than those around him.
