Grands Crus 1/3 For Second Chasing Success

The RSA Chase favourite has his second spin over fences in the 2.10 at Newbury on Thursday.

At 3/10 with Paddy Power, Grands Crus is a very warm order to win the 2.10 three miles novices’ chase at Newbury today. He faces three rivals, with Sonofvic the main threat, receiving 7lbs; the six-year-old is having his first run over fences having been unbeaten as a hurdler.

Perhaps not a betting contest to get excited about, but those holding antepost tickets will be desperate to see Grands Crus go well. He is the 5/1 (Coral) favourite for the RSA Chase, 6/1 (Bet365) favourite for the Jewson Novices’ and 16/1 (Boylesports) for next year’s Gold Cup. That race might come a bit soon, with the Irish firm offering 16/1 that Grands Crus wins the 2013 Gold Cup. Not especially attractive odds considering the time frames involved.
