Goodwood Tips: Arctic Feeling

Finished a close sixth in the race last year and arrives in top form. Paul Hanagan onboard another positive.

Arctic Feeling finished sixth in this race last year, only beaten 1.5 lengths and should go close again in the 5.25 Goodwood.

After a slow start to the season, Arctic Feeling has hit top form in the last couple of months. He won a 6f handicap on Derby Day and then did well to finish a close fourth at Ayr when chasing an overly strong pace. On his last start, he was only beaten 1.5 lengths in a class 2 handicap at York to confirm his well-being.

A string of consistent performances should put him in the mix but the return of Paul Hanagan could make the difference. The former champion jockey rarely rides the horse these days but they have an excellent record together. In ten starts, they have teamed up for 3 wins and 3 placed efforts.

Well drawn in the centre of the track and with a strong gallop almost guaranteed, Arctic Feeling is overpriced at 16/1 (William Hill).
