Pontefract Tips: Arctic Feeling

Races off a career low mark and this his easiest task since finishing second on heavy ground at Ayr last year.

Cheveton is hot favourite for the 3.10 Pontefract, a race he won last year, but he is not great value in a big field. Inexperienced apprentice Louis Steward takes the ride and from a potentially tricky draw in stall 17, there is enough to put me off.

At a much bigger price I like the chances of Arctic Feeling. His form isn’t inspiring but he ran his best race in a long while when only 5.75 lengths behind Dungannon at Haydock.

As a result of his poor form he’s slipped down the handicap to his lowest ever mark and he gets to race in a class 4 contest for only the third time in his career.

Arctic Feeling’s record over 5f on ground rated soft or worse is 53220 and with conditions to suit he is overpriced at 16/1 (Paddy Power).
