Ayr Tips: Arctic Feeling

Handles soft ground and been running well in better handicaps all season.

It is good news that Ayr’s Western Meeting gets the go ahead but after yesterday’s abandonment the going is heavy. Looking at the 4.00 race, there are two things you need in a horse: the ability to handle heavy ground and a low draw.

The first requirement is self-explanatory and if you examine the draw, all the pace is drawn low. Even Stevens, Jamaican Bolt and Come On Dave are the obvious pacesetters, all drawn next to each other in stalls 3-5. There is a good chance they will take each other on and go too fast, especially in testing conditions.

This could set the race up for Arctic Feeling at the finish. He has already shown a high level of form when finishing third in the big sprint at Chester’s May Meeting. Conveniently, that was on soft ground so he should handle today’s conditions.

Having raced in good handicaps all year, Arctic Feeling drops down a grade, into this class 4 contest. The last time he raced at this level he won. At 7/1 (Bodog) he is good value to do so again.
