Catterick Tips: Arctic Feeling

Able to race on fresh ground from a low draw and been knocking at the door recently.

For today’s Catterick meeting, the far rail on the home straight is moved to provide 3m of fresh ground not raced on since July 25th. Particularly in heavy conditions, racing on virgin ground could make a massive difference in the 2.50.

It was a similar story last year. Verinco drawn in stall 1 beat Favourite Girl from stall 4, both horses shadowed the far side rail, thus racing on the best ground.

Low numbers should dominate again and it could set up perfectly for Arctic Feeling. Proven in heavy conditions, he’s finished runner-up on his last two starts over 5f. On paper he steps up in grade for this class 2 handicap, but in realty this is a 0-95 class 3 contest. Only Ponty Acclaim is rated above 95 and she is still 5lbs below the handicap ceiling.

In a relatively weak race for the grade, Arctic Feeling can make the most of the draw advantage at 6/1 (William Hill).
