Epsom Tips: Top Cop

Andrew Balding has plotted the same route to Epsom as he did with 2008 winner, Holbeck Ghyll. First-time blinkers and a good draw could see him make all.

Stone Of Folca managed to perform a minor miracle from stall 2 last year, but to win the Epsom Dash (3.15) you generally need a high draw and to race prominently.

Andrew Balding won the race in 2008 with Holbeck Ghyll and has another live contender in Top Cop. He has taken the same route to Epsom with a prep race over 6f at Newbury and looks primed for a big run.

On his last outing he showed excellent early speed in a first-time visor before tiring in the last furlong. This afternoon he wears blinkers for the first time, with the aim to replicate that blistering gate-speed over a much sharper 5f trip.

Drawn in stall 20 he has the rail to race against, which can be a big advantage, especially for prominent racers.

His half-brother was runner-up in the race last year, but with a better draw this front-runner could go one better at 18/1 (William Hill).
