Epsom Tips: Secret Missile
Has blistering early speed and a high draw – usually the recipe for success on Epsom’s 5f track.
Epsom is home to the fastest 5f track in the world, it is downhill most of the way and therefore suits front-runners.
Caspian Prince did the double last year, winning this race followed by the Dash on Derby day. His blistering early speed meant he was almost impossible to catch once he got the lead.
Secret Missile isn’t quite in his league but he displays many of the same qualities.
Last season he won twice, and was denied a hat-trick when seemingly going off too fast in soft ground at Ascot. This first three home that day were all held-up in rear.
During the off-season he moved to Gary Moore but I doubt his new handler will change his running style.
Drawn in stall 12, he has the ideal draw against the stand’s rail. If he gets a decent break, he should get an early lead and prove difficult to pass.
