Epsom Tips: Baldemar
A three-time winner at the track and suited by ease in the ground.
Epsom is such an idiosyncratic venue that is creates many course specialists. Mac Gille Eoin has won this race twice, although the rain softening might go against him tonight. Instead, I’m going for the other Epsom specialist – Baldemar.
A three-time winner at the track, he is more suited by ease in the ground; he has never won on going faster than good in his entire career.
On Derby Day he finished third over course and distance, looking slightly outpaced on the good to firm ground. He still ran a cracking race to get within 1.25 lengths of the winner and would have been even closer if not forced to switch round horses in the straight.
He is in-form, loves the track and has ideal underfoot conditions. At 5/1 (Ladbrokes), he is the best bet in the 7.10 Epsom.
