Epsom Oaks Betting Preview

We preview the runners and riders for the Investec Oaks, the fillies’ classic taking place at 4.00 on Friday.

The fillies’ classic takes place on Epsom Downs and is run over 1m4f. Broadcast live on Channel 4 we take you through the runners in betting order.

Secret Gesture 9/4 (Bet365)
The top rated horse in the field and a worthy favourite after running out a 10-length winner in the Lingfield Oaks trial.

Moth 7/2 (Paddy Power)
Endured a troubled passage but stayed on to finish an eye-catching third in the 1000 Guineas. Should be suited by the step up in trip

Liber Nauticus 4/1 (Paddy Power)
Only workmanlike when winning the Musidora at York. The time was unimpressive but part of that was down to the slow early pace.

Banoffee 8/1 (Bet365)
Made up plenty of ground to win at Chester, not always an easy thing to do, but a Racing Post Rating of 93 suggests she will need to improve again.

Say 12/1 (Bet365)
Easy 9-length winner at Cork but she didn’t beat much. Failed to win on her seasonal debut and that is a better guide to her ability.

Talent 16/1 (BetVictor)
Given an RPR of 102 for her victory at Newmarket but the way she ground out the win it’s hard to see where the necessary improvement to win an Oaks will come from.

Madam Defarge 28/1 (BetVictor)
Won her maiden on heavy going, therefore any juice in the ground is in her favour. Hampered and ran green on her last start, therefore a potential improver.

The Lark 33/1 (Ladbrokes)
Not suited by the steady gallop when third at Newbury. Handles soft ground and another potential improver.

Gertrude Versed 40/1 (Bet365)
Well held at Chester and looks outclassed. Won only once in five starts.

Roz 50/1 (Bet365)
Progressive last season, finishing second to Certify in the Shadwell Fillies’ Mile but flopped in the 1000 Guineas.

Miss You Too 100/1 (Bet365)
One win in nine starts and looks thoroughly exposed.
