Door Opens To Let Me In
Tracked an overly strong pace last time but still fought out the finish whilst his fellow pace-setters fell out the back.
Let Me In is on the comeback trail after spending almost two years on the sidelines. After a couple of pipe openers, he showed his hand with a second place finish over course and distance last month.
The most pleasing element of his performance was the way he kept going after tracking a searing gallop. Let Me In’s finishing speed was 97.9% of his average race speed, which means he was tiring at the finish. The winner came from the rear, whilst his fellow pace-setters finished well beaten.
Sectionals point to an inefficient use of energy and so does the collateral form. Front-runners Black Minstrel and Scot Daddy improved by 18lbs and 19lbs respectively in their next races. Proof of how they were adversely affected by the overly strong gallop.
If Let Me In can distribute his energy more evenly and Jimmy Quinn is an eye-catching jockey booking (only ride of the day), then he could prove value at 8/1 (William Hill).
