Carlton House Fails To Deliver

Treasure Beach headed a 1-2-3 for trainer Aiden O’Brien in the Irish Derby. Carlton House disappointed in fourth; it is a struggle to see where he can score next.

Although Pour Moi was absent, Epsom Derby form was recreated at the Curragh on Sunday. Runner-up in the English version, Treasure Beach went one better to win the Irish Derby. He finished ahead of stablemates Seville and Memphis Tennessee to give trainer Aiden O’Brien a 1-2-3 in the race.

The Queen’s horse, Carlton House was sent off 5/4 favourite but disappointed in fourth. A step back in trip now looks likely but it is difficult to see where he will pick up a big Group One race this season. He is 25/1 with Skybet to win the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe.

The St. Leger is an option for the Aiden O’Brien trio. Treasure Beach is 8/1, Memphis Tennesse 12/1 and Seville 14/1 for the Doncaster showpiece.
