dawn approach Dawn Approach 2/1
Verdict: Champion two-year-old and looks a class act; unbeaten in five starts and a dual Group 1 winner. Only worry is whether he has trained on, but judged on last year’s performances he doesn’t need to improve much.

Toronado Toronado 9/4
Verdict: Unbeaten in four starts but that hasn’t gone unnoticed in the betting. Managed to dominate small fields with his early pace but will face more competition for the lead.

Cristoforo Colombo Cristoforo Colombo 11/1
Verdict: Finished a length behind Dawn Approach at Royal Ascot when badly drawn. Struggled afterwards on soft ground but could easily bounce back on a faster surface.

garswood Garswood 16/1
Verdict: Impressive winner on his last start over 7f. Bred to be a sprinter therefore question marks about him getting a mile.

george vancouver George Vancouver 16/1
Verdict: Finished 3.5 lengths behind Dawn Approach in the Dewhurst when the going was against him. When he got his ground, he won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf. A smart performer who will relish conditions.

mars Mars 16/1
Verdict: Impressive winner at Dundalk last season but that was the only time we saw him. Likely to improve but by how much is anyone’s guess.

van der neer Van Der Neer 20/1
Verdict: Runner-up in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy on ground that didn’t suit. Better on a quicker surface and overcame adversity to win well at Lingfield.

Moohaajim Moohaajim 25/1
Verdict: Travelled well in the Greenham but found little off the bridle. Might come on for the run but more likely he won’t stay the trip.

kyllachy Rise Kyllachy Rise 66/1
Verdict: Dangerous to write off a Sir Henry Cecil horse but he wasn’t able to win a maiden a fortnight ago, so how can he win a classic?

Leitir Mor Leitir Mor 66/1
Verdict: Highly tried but managed only one victory in 13 starts. Finished second to Dawn Approach in the Dewhurst but had the run of the race.

dont bother me Dont Bother Me 150/1
Verdict: Needs to find upwards of 20lbs worth of improvement and that’s unlikely to happen in 20 days. Finished second on both starts this season.

Correspondent Correspondent 300/1
Verdict: Well beaten on his reappearance and no obvious excuses. Looks outclassed.

Glory Awaits Glory Awaits 300/1
Verdict: One win in eight starts and that was a moderate maiden. Looks outclassed.
