abtaal1. Abitaal 8/1
Expected to improve since his comeback run and likely the best of the French raiders. A mile perhaps the minimum he needs however.

boomerang bob2. Boomerang Bob 100/1
Only has a maiden victory to his name and looked well held by Caspar Netscher on his last start. Trip an unknown.
born to sea3. Born To Sea 10/1
Three-quarter brother to Sea The Stars and bred to be speedier. Last run forgiven as he was found to be lame post race. Has an excellent trainer and arrives with a big chance.

Bronterre4. Bronterre 33/1
Possible excuses on his last two runs, pulled too hard at Newbury and poorly drawn at Goodwood. Could run better than the odds.

Camelot5. Camelot 2/1
An impressive winner of the Racing Post Trophy but there must be question marks over the trip. His sire Montjeu has not produced any Group 1 winners at a mile, aged three and upwards. Soft ground might play to his stamina but odds are short for a more likely Derby candidate.

Caspar Netscher6. Caspar Netscher 28/1
Fantastic advert for his trainer, with three Group wins to his name. Had the race run to suit in the Greenham but didn’t pull away from his rivals like a Guineas winner should.

Coupe De Ville7. Coupe De Ville 100/1
Didn’t look like he’d trained on, when fifth on his seasonal reappearance and unlikely to have improved in the last 16 days.

Fencing8. Fencing 22/1
Missed his prep run with a minor foot problem. Creditable third behind Camelot in the Racing Post Trophy but hard to seem him turning around the form.

French Fifteen9. French Fifteen 12/1
Just got the better of Abtaal on his seasonal reappearance. Forced to make his move much wider than the runner-up and perhaps worth a bit more than the margin of victory.

Hermival10. Hermival 20/1
Finished third behind French Fifteen and Abtaal and looks held on that form.

Power11. Power 11/1
Won the National Stakes at the Curragh but made heavy weather of things when second in the Dewhurst. Beaten half a length that day and never looked like getting past the winner.

Ptolemaic12. Ptolemaic 500/1
Well beaten on his season reappearance and rated just 96 he looks outclassed.

Redact13. Redact 250/1
Struggled in a handicap on his reappearance and the fact he was almost sold during the winter suggest he’s not top class.

Red Duke14. Red Duke 100/1
Wasn’t beaten far in the Dewhurst and ran creditably in Meydan, finishing 4.5 lengths behind a Kentucky Derby candidate. Has place possibilities.

Saigon15. Saigon 150/1
Kept on falling short in Group company last season and a mile not likely to suit either.

Talwar16. Talwar 40/1
Supplemented for the race after a recent listed win at Lingfield. Unlikely connections would want to waste their money. Trip and ease underfoot shouldn’t pose any problems.

Top Offer17. Top Offer 14/1
Could be anything after we saw him only once last season; albeit an impressive winner of his Newbury maiden.

Trumpet Major18. Trumpet Major 11/1
Proved he had trained on when carrying a penalty to a wide margin victory in the Craven Stakes. Floundered on bottomless ground at Sandown last season and would not want any more rain.
