1000 Guineas Tip: Havant

Impressive in her unbeaten career, she showed a devastating turn of foot in her second Newmarket win.

The 1000 Guineas at 3.15 on Sunday is a much more open affair than the male equivalent but that is not to say there couldn’t be a superstar hidden away. In her two year old career Havant looked like she could be that horse. Unbeaten in two runs, she was deeply impressive when winning the Oh So Sharp Stakes at the end of the season.

After a tardy start Ryan Moore slowly brought her into the race, when reaching the dip she took off to win by over three lengths. Her jockey wasn’t overly tough on her but the turn of foot she showed was mighty impressive.

The field she beat was useful, she had Khawlah behind in third and that horse went on to win what was in effect the Dubai Guineas in Meydan. She is with an excellent trainer and has the speed needed to win the first fillies’ classic of the year.
