WGC Match Play Betting: Poulter Crashes Out
Woods and Poulter were two big name casualties in the desert but the WGC Match Player betting is still wide open.
Tiger Woods and Ian Poulter were the biggest casualties during the first round of the WGC Match Play. Both matches went to the 19th hole where Thomas Bjorn and Stewart Cink prevailed.
Those games set the tone for a day of tight match play, where a record eight matches were decided in extra holes. It was also a day for upsets with 14 lower ranked players beating their higher ranked opponent.
The 17 year old Italian – Matteo Manassero was one of them. A 100/1 shot at the start of the week, he beat World Number 8 Steve Striker 2&1 and is now a 66/1 chance.
In the outright betting Paul Casey survived extra holes to remain 10/1 favourite with Boylesports. The likes of Kaymer, McIlroy, Ogilvy and Mickelson are all queuing up behind him at 16/1 or less. It is fair to say that the betting is wide open.
