WGC Match Play Tips: Marc Leishman

Won both his singles matches in the Presidents Cup and group opponents have poor records in WGC Match Play.

The WGC Match Play is finding someone who can get out of their group, then anything can happen.

Marc Leishman is up against Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood and Ryan Moore but the three of them have underwhelming records in this event. In 33 combined starts they have two semi-final appearances and one quarter-final appearance between them; 23 times they’ve failed to get beyond the last-32.

The 32-year-old Australian is enjoying a good season and has the weapons to be effective in match-play. He hits the ball a long way and when the putter heats up can make a run of birdies.

A winner of both his singles matches in the Presidents Cup (against Spieth and Kuchar) means he should not fear anyone this week and he is a decent each-way bet at 66/1 (Ladbrokes).
