WGC Match Play Tips: Thomas Pieters
Star of the Ryder Cup who already looks at home on the PGA Tour. Excellent record in WGCs, no worse than T28 in four starts.
The WGC Match Play is fraught with danger from a betting perspective. Your bet can crash out very quickly even if playing well but with that health warning out of the way I still recommend a wager of Thomas Pieters.
The young Belgian was the star of the Ryder Cup, certainly for the Europeans. He was the tournament’s leading scorer with four points and carried some of his more illustrious partners during the week. The 25-year-old knows how to win at match play against the best, therefore he must approach this week’s event full of confidence.
Pieters is playing a lot more on the PGA Tour so should feel comfortable in his surroundings. He finished second at the Genesis Open and his record in WGCs is an impressive 23-28-14-5.
He currently leads the tour in strokes gained with approaches to the green and is ninth in strokes gained putting. He’s got the tools and can go well this week at 50/1.
